is a non-resident lead research fellow in Fiscal Policy Health Economics area in social sciences at ETHICSS, UK. He is currently working as Senior Research Economist at MacroPolicy Lab, PIDE, Pakistan. He has also served as the Project Director, Center of Excellence-CPEC, Head of Health Economics Department and Head, Fiscal Policy Section, Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), Pakistan. His research interest is Public Finance, Fiscal Policy and Health Economics.

He earned his higher education from
top universities with distinction and ended up with PhD in Economics. He has more than 25 years of academic and research experience. Mahmood earned his PhD in Economics from Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) with dissertation in Fiscal Policy. He is also a member of Pakistan Society of Development Economists (PSDE). He has robust background in core areas of economics. Outputs of his research are widely published in peer reviewed journals.
